Where official certificates for products of animal origin and food not of animal origin are lost prior to arrival at Port Health, we will require details of the circumstances in which the certificate was lost, what action has been taken to find the certificate - for example checking it has not been inadvertently submitted to customs - along with a guarantee that should the certificate be found it will be submitted to us.
Providing we are satisfied the certificate is irretrievably lost we will require a replacement certificate. This is in accordance with commission guidance on replacement certification.

The consignment will be called for examination after we have received the original replacement certificate and we have completed the mandatory documentary check of the replacement certificate.
