Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority (SCPHA) has been able to reduce costs and turnaround times for plastic products that require sampling by using a more local laboratory.

Shorter transport times between SCPHA and the new provider will save importers £135.76 and reduce average delivery times from 12 to 7 working days.

The previous £670 rate comprised a £70.87 charge to cover SCPHA taking the sample, with the remaining £599.13 paying for the laboratory’s analytical and courier fees.

Now, with plastics analyses taking place nearby, importers can expect to pay £534.24 in total and a quicker turnaround for their plastic products.
